AVV 23 Gold System

Device for CO2 Detection in EBC

AAV is the acronym for “Alveol Air Valve” and it is specifically designed and manufactured to improve the research and study of the Exhaled Breath, enabling the collection of alveol air sample, excluding the portion of air relating to the upper respiratory tract (dead spaces).
The AAV 23 Gold (Patent pending) is a complete new device resulting from the experiences gained with the first AAV14, today discontinued. The new valve is conceptually similar to the previous AAV14 but constructively and functionally improved.

Electromechanical Actuator with CO2 Sensor

The AAV23 Gold consists of two elements: a special three-way valve with capnometer support and an electromechanical actuator with CO2 sensor. The electromechanical actuator incorporates the IR sensor, electronically controlled to detect the concentration of CO2 in the exhaled air present in the system. When the concentration is >C50 (Lowler method), the sensor allows the actuator to operate the valve. The three-way valve is conceptually innovative and extremely compact thanks to the use of a rotating obturator: it allows the collection of alveolar air samples by eliminating the portion of air coming from the dead space. This simple and efficient solution can aid in the study of deep lung pathologies, using a non-invasive and cost-effective method that can be repeated frequently.
